The Email Distribution List: To, CC, and BCC The email distribution list is the entire group of people who will receive your email. People in the workplace today can receive hundreds of emails each week. Before you send an email, make sure you have identified not only who should receive it, but why. The name or names in the "To" box of your email should be only those recipients who are directly affected by your email. Use carbon copy "CC" to let others know that you sent the message, such as a supervisor or members of a group working on the same project. Use blind carbon copy "BCC" only when you need to privately send a copy of your original message to certain individuals. Names that you include in the "BCC" box will not be visible to the "To" and "CC" recipients when the email is delivered.
