Composing the Message When you know what you want to accomplish, who your audience is, and your appropriate style and tone, you can begin composing your message. For an email or a business letter, you might simply write out the message. For longer communications, you will need an outline to help you organize your message. Think about your purpose, your audience, and the appropriate style and tone to help you with your outline.
