Writing for Work Principles   The Message

Composing the Message

When you know what you want to accomplish, who your audience is, and your appropriate style and tone, you can begin composing your message.

For an email or a business letter, you might simply write out the message.  For longer communications, you will need an outline to help you organize your message.  Think about your purpose, your audience, and the appropriate style and tone to help you with your outline.

Try Your Own
Practice creating a message.

For more information about building an outline or revising your drafts, you can check out the WriteSite's Stages of Writing.
