|
Unlike many OWLS (Online Writing Laboratories) established by other universities, the WriteSite is not conceived as a substitute for teachers and tutors. On the contrary, students learn best when use of WriteSite accompanies, and is integrated with, writing assignments and instruction led by teachers and tutors. Faculty and/or tutor intervention is particularly important because the WriteSite is an interactive website in which active participation replaces passive surfing and sampling. Most students need supervision and feedback in order to maximize their use of the WriteSite.
