Step 1: Identify what you have to discuss and the people who will read or hear the discussion (your audience): Step 2: What kind of writing will you do for this discussion? Will you be comparing? Will you be analyzing? (If you can't decide what kind of writing you will be using to discuss your subject, we have help for you). Step 3: List the main points of the subject you are discussing.
