Frank Field got on my bus the other day, and I was so surprised I sat down on the arm between two seats. There is a big bruise on my right thigh, but it was worth it. Dom DeLuise was giving out recipes at 57th and 7th, and I stopped, nearly missing the M28. As I was waiting for the M30, Richard Kiley dodged me, Jack Palance ignored me, Greta Waitz raced past.
    Upper West Siders are, as social workers say, open. I had a nice conversation with N. Richard Nash's wife, a cordial exchange with Adolph Green. A good way to keep in touch with the great and near-great, riding.
